Rotary Charter Night
On a cold night in February, dedicated Rotary Club members of Pickering got together at the Waterfront Bistro to celebrate their Annual Charter Night. Pickering’s club was chartered in 1942 and celebrated its 68th year in Pickering with a special address by District Governor Doug Byers and Mayor Dave Ryan. The meeting led off with welcome and announcements by President Evelyn Smith and the singing of O’ Canada led by David Stone. The Rotary Club is an organization of business and professional people united worldwide with a motto that states “Service above Self”. They have touched the lives of many in our community with their charitable work and may be best known for their annual Pickering Ribfest, that they run in conjunction with their colleagues in the Ajax Rotary Club.
