St. Marguerite Bourgeoys 25th Anniversary
What a fabulous evening of celebration it was last month at the 25th Anniversary of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School in Pickering. Principal Catherine Hermans coordinated with her staff an evening of food, laughter, memories and the official unveiling and blessing of the St. Marguerite Bourgeoys mural that was painted by artist Joe Stickley as a donation to the school. Father Ron Calhoun from St. Isaac Joques parish dropped by to officially bless the mural. The saint, Marguerite Bourgeoys, strongly believed in Christian education with the school and family participating. She was proclaimed a saint in 1982 and is the first woman in Canada to be canonized.
