Bridge Officers 1st Lt., Barry Villiers, P/Cdr. Ernie Hultay and Cdr. Alan Richardson at the Frenchman's Bay Canadian Power & Sail Squadron booth

Canadian Power & Sail Squadron at Pickering Town Centre

Did you know that on September 15th, 2009, all boaters in Canada are required to have the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) in order to operate any powered watercraft? Well, you do and even though it may be cold outside, the warm weather and boating season is just around the corner. The Frenchman's Bay Squadron of Canadian Power & Sail spent the weekend of January 23rd and 24th at the Pickering Town Centre, educating boaters on the requirements of licensing and registering people for their upcoming courses in February (see ad in this paper). I dropped by to visit with Cdr. Allen Richardson, P/Cdr. Ernie Hultay and 1st Officer, Barry Villiers as they discussed the importance of courses in conjunction with the boater's handbook when preparing for your exam. Safety, knowledge and confidence are mandatory on our waters. For more information, go their website at www.fbps.ca.
