Mayor Ryan spoke to the students about job market preparation

University Counselling, Job and Volunteer Fair

The Tamil Cultural & Academic Society of Durham hosted a University Counselling, Job and Volunteer Fair at the Royal Canadian Legion Ajax Branch last month. The evening began with opening remarks from Mayor Dave Ryan of Pickering, who spoke to the youth and their parents about his past experiences in the corporate world of IBM and his present day experiences at the City of Pickering. Ryan presented a broad spectrum of information for the students to take in. The guests had the opportunity to listen to a wide variety of speakers, including a Software Engineer, Doctors and other professionals who related their thoughts on university and the jobs market. Information on scholarships, summer job and volunteer opportunities were of the greatest interest to many of the students.
