Waterfront Toronto officials, Mayor Ryan, along with Pickering Councillors officially open the Western Gateway
Official Opening of the Western Gateway
On June 9th the City of Pickering partnered with Waterfront Toronto and Toronto and Region Conservation to open the Western Gateway, also known as the First Nations Trail. The First Nation Trail is themed as a "Commemoration of Native Settlement" and is the newest addition to the waterfront trail and a link to Toronto's Port Union Waterfront Park. The Gateway was created to replace an aging series of timber and asphalt steps. Western Gateway creates a seamless waterfront trail from the Rouge River in Toronto to Bella Vista Drive and Dyson Road in Pickering. It was built to provide users from both cities safe, easy, access to the lake.
